Parks, Farms, and Zoos

Rockland County, a great place to live, work, and play, come alone, bring the kids, there are lots of fun places to spend the day!

There are a variety of state, county, and town parks located in Rockland, including the County's newest park, Haverstraw Bay Park, overlooking the Hudson River. Haverstraw Bay Park includes a boat launch, 2 childrens' playgrounds, an open-air pavilion that can be rented for parties, fishing piers, walking paths, and the Rockland County September 11 Memorial.

The Rockland Farm Alliance facilitates local sustainable agriculture here in Rockland County, including the Cropsey Community Farm, a 5-acre organic farm in New City in which members can purchase a weekly share in the farm's harvest. The Orchards of Concklin in Pomona recently celebrated its 300th anniversary and is Rockland's oldest farm. Enjoy picking your own apples and shopping in their farm store. Dr. Davies Farm in Congers offers apple-picking, pumpkin-picking, hayrides and more.

Visit the Bear Mountain Zoo and Trailside Museum and meet a variety of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians & fish. The resident bears are sure to be the most popular attraction on your visit!

Rockland County has a variety of shopping malls, including The Shops at Nanuet, Palisades Center, and Spring Valley Marketplace. Rockland also has a new baseball stadium -- Provident Bank Park -- home to the Rockland Boulders. There is an outdoor ice rink at Bear Mountain, and there are two indoor ice rinks -- one at the Palisades Center in West Nyack and one at SportORama in Monsey. And that's just for starters!

The Rockland County YMCA provides recreational and community service facilities for the surrounding community to enjoy, including a swimming pool, gymnasium, fitness center, exercise/dance studio, child care and youth game room.
